If you wish to travel to a beach city in Mexico but you don’t want to pay top dollar for you hotel or resort package, the Mexican city of Guaymas can help you reach your goal. Guaymas is a port town on the western part of Mexico, located between the cities of Hermosillo and Ciudad Obregon.
Besides the beach, Guaymas has a lot to offer. A few times a year, Guaymas is home to a couple of the biggest festivals in Mexico. The city, which is over 300 years old, has a lot of historical sites including museums and religious buildings. In the water, you can enjoy everything from skiing to whale watching. There is also a ferry that connects Guaymas with the Baja California city of Santa Rosalia.
Since Guaymas isn’t a hugely popular tourist destination, it’s not surprising that the prices for hotel and resort accommodations are inexpensive. Rest assured that even though you won’t be paying a lot of money, the hotels and resorts in this city are extremely nice.
Armida Motel offers comfortable rooms, a friendly staff and a decent amount of amenities for a very reasonable price. It’s also located in a convenient part of Guaymas, with many shopping areas and restaurants nearby. The beach is also within walking distance.
Hotel Playa de Cortes is located even closer to the beach and has gotten good reviews in the last few years. Even though this hotel is relatively old, it has been kept up nicely. Hotel Playa de Cortes is in a safe part of town and is a favorite among tourists from the United States.

If you are looking for a peaceful place, friendly people, and relive part of Mexico’s History, come to Patzcuaro, Michoacan. Patzcuaro is a cultural and artisan center for the sate of Michoacan. Patzcuaro is a small colonial gem that is found on hills above one of the lakes, Patzcuaro lake.
Many historical fountains adorn the city. A multitude of Churches, Plazas, and Shrines make this a truly great historical destination. Patzcuaro is famous for its side walk cafes and great restaurants. Small and large market places line the Plazas and ancient side streets.
You can easily walk practically anywhere in this town, and in fact, taking a tour on foot is the best way to really appreciate the lovely old buildings along the narrow streets, the arches, and commanding facades around the two town squares.
People from the capital city of Morelia come to this place to get away from the traffic and stress of the city and to enjoy some peace and quiet. Visitors enjoy having a good meal at some of the local restaurants and they also like doing some handcrafts shopping.
This town is also famous because many old Mexican movies were filmed here and for many people being in this town is a romantic experience; specially when they take a tour around the lake in a small boat.

Real de Catorce is a former Silver-mining community located at an altitude of over 9,000 feet, in the dry mountains of north-western San Luis Potosi. Silence, fresh air, and a spectacular view are some of the things that you can really enjoy here.
Although the town had been there for many years, silver was discovered in the local mountains in 1722 and a few years later in 1779 the village was officially founded. Nowadays, its main income comes from tourism.
It’s Colonial Style Buildings, Picturesque Surroundings, and Remote Location have made Real de Catorce a popular Movie Set. Several Hollywood films like The Mexican with Brad Pitt and Julia Roberts and Las Bandidas with Penelope Cruz and Salma Hayek have been shot here.
Real de Catorce was named a Pueblo Magico (Magical Village) in 2001. This is because it is a place with Symbolism, Legends, History, Important Events, Magic in its Social and Cultural Manifestations, with great opportunities for Tourism.
Access to the town is via a largely cobblestone road which at one point goes through the Ogarrio Tunnel, it is very narrow, permitting only alternating, one way traffic and about 3 kilometers long. So as you can see Real de Catorce is a very unique place.
Coming to this town is like traveling back in time to the days of the Mexican Revolution. Because of the different aspects mentioned above, this town deserves your visit.

A few miles east of Tuxtla Gutierrez, Chiapas is the spectacular Cañon del Sumidero (sumidero canyon) created by the mighty Rio Grijalva which runs north-wards through it. The Sumidero Canyon covers an area of 21,789 hectares.
If you really want to experience the view of the Canyon, take a boat ride. The 2-3 hour round trip on the boat will take you on an spectacular journey through the canyon, with some of the walls towering 2,500 feet above you. The wildlife on display is spectacular, and your boat may take you on a tour past one or two caves in the area.
One of the most exciting developments in this area is the Canyon Sumidero Ecological Park, opened on April 8th 2003. The only way to get to the Park is to take a boat there, as you arrive at the Ecological Park, you cross a wooden bridge that leads you through the Park’s entrance way to the registration are.
The Park offers a range of activity-based Eco-attractions including the opportunity to visit the wildlife sanctuary, see local flora and fauna as well as a number of physical and sporting activities such as kayaking, mountain biking, abseiling, zip-line, swimming and more. The Park has an excellent Restaurant, a gift shop and areas to just sit, relax and enjoy the natural environment.
If you are an animal lover, you will enjoy seeing different kinds of birds, monkeys and even crocodiles. Some of these animals can be seen from the boat and others may be seen only on foot.
The Sumidero Canyon is a truly spectacular experience which should not be missed when you are traveling in this area.

Jalapa is a couple of hours easy drive from the state of Veracruz. The population is around 400,000. Monte Alban is a large Pre-Columbian Archaeological site in the southern Mexican State of Oaxaca. Monte Alban was a sacred City in Prehistoric times and the religious center of the Zapotec culture, which flourished 2000 years ago. The remarkable central Plaza, the ball court, and many of the tombs, are open to the public. It is an amazing complex situated on a levelled mountain top. Monte Alban is the work of men who knew their architectural business consummately well. The best time to appreciate the spectacular beauty of the buildings in the changing light is either early in the morning or at sunset.
The monumental center of Monte Alban is the Main Plaza ,which measures approximately 300 meters by 200 meters . The site´s main civic ceremonial and elite- residential structures are located around it or in its immediate vicinity.
Los Danzantes is one of the oldest structures. It’s so named (The Dancer´s) because of the presence of a number of engraved stones depicting what were initially considered to be dancers. A small museum is also located here, displaying some of the artifacts found in the excavations. Several vendors sell replicas of many of the items and other locally produced artifacts.
The archaeological zone is open from Tuesday to Sunday from 9:00am to 5:00 pm. A permit is required it you want to use tripod to take photographs at the archaeological site. In order to enjoy the tour of the ruins, comfortable walking shoes are needed. View More Pictures…

Every Fall, hundreds of millions of Monarch Butterflies from East of the Rocky Mountains head south from Canada and The United States to take refuge in one winter retreat. This place is a unique Mexican forest located 70 miles west of Mexico city.
Monarch butterfly sanctuaries were established in the Mexican state of Michoacan. The mountains in this state are covered with coniferous forests consisting mainly of pines with a large portion of oaks, making this mountains a perfect place for the butterflies to live during the winter season.
The butterfly season starts in December and ends in April. The peak population is in March, as the new butterflies prepare for their journey north.
The monarch butterfly migration is an amazing feat; an annual exhausting journey, covering more than 3,000 miles. Once the Monarchs reach their destination, they can literally cover the trees with their orange and black wings for the next six months. They rest and recharge in preparation for their migration back north in the spring.
If you are a nature lover and like butterflies, this is the perfect place for you. the scenery in this forest is really beautiful and you are guaranteed to have a very peaceful and relaxing time in company of your family or friends.
